Sell things on your site
The Hosting add-on's storefront turns your site's product catalogue into a real shop: browsable pages, a cart, checkout, order tracking, and email receipts - all built from the products you (or your assistant) add in Settings › Sites, with payments going straight to your own connected Square account.
How it works
- Connect Square. In Settings › Sites, connect your own Square account (the same connection used for simple checkout links). Every payment goes to your account directly - nothing passes through us.
- Add products. Give each one a name, price, and a kind: physical, digital download, subscription, or gift card. Physical products can have variants (size, colour - each with its own price and stock count), multiple images, and a category. A digital product's file lives in a private folder in your site's files that is never published publicly - only a paying buyer gets a link to it.
- Publish. Publishing your site generates a full shop: a home page, one page per category, a page per product with search-friendly product markup, a cart page, and a checkout page. A small script handles the cart (kept in the visitor's own browser), promo codes, and a live shipping/tax estimate.
- A buyer checks out. They're sent to a secure Square payment page. Once they pay, you're notified, their order is marked paid, stock is reduced, and (for a digital product) a download link is generated, or (for a gift card) a redeemable code is issued and emailed to them if you have transactional email configured.
- You manage orders in Settings › Sites: mark an order fulfilled, cancel an unpaid one, or issue a full refund (which reverses the Square payment automatically). A small report shows revenue, average order value, and your top sellers over the last 30 days.
Inventory
Turn on stock tracking for any product or variant by setting a count in Settings › Sites. Stock is reserved the moment a payment completes, not when someone adds to cart, so an item can't be sold twice - if two people manage to buy the very last unit at the same moment, the order still goes through (you already have the money) and is flagged so you can follow up with the buyer.
Promo codes
Create a percentage or fixed-amount code with an optional expiry date and a maximum number of uses. A buyer enters it on the cart or checkout page and sees the discount before paying.
Shipping and tax
Set a flat shipping rate, or use the built-in weight-class tiers (light/standard/heavy, one per physical product) with an optional international surcharge and a free-shipping threshold. Tax is a simple rate table by country (and, optionally, state or province) - only products marked taxable are charged tax, and digital products, subscriptions and gift cards are exempt by default.
Gift cards
A gift card product, once purchased, issues a redeemable code automatically. A future buyer can enter that code at checkout to cover all or part of their order - if it covers the whole total, no payment page is needed at all.
Receiving payment notifications
For orders to be marked paid automatically, add a webhook to your Square account pointing at the URL shown in Settings › Sites, and paste the signature key Square gives you back into the same screen. Until this is set up, orders will show as awaiting payment even after a buyer has paid - check your Square dashboard directly in the meantime.
Departments
If you run a company on this site, Sales can see orders and mark them fulfilled, Marketing can see a sales report and propose promo codes for you to approve, and Support can look up an order and issue a refund - every refund is logged with a reason.
Limits
Storefront pages, orders and promo codes count toward your site's existing file and storage limits. A digital product's file is capped at 8 MB - for anything larger, use a manual checkout link to your own file host instead of the built-in digital-download option.
