Your first ten minutes
Setup is a short, guided path from a brand-new account to a real website and a team keeping it up to date. It opens on its own the first time you sign in with no site and no team yet - after that, it's one click away from Settings > General > "Run setup again."
Every step does something real, and every step can be skipped. Nothing here is a preview of what could happen - it's the same actions you'd take by hand, in order, with sensible defaults filled in.
The steps
- Your business - your name, what you do, who it's for, a tone, and a city. This is what everything after it is built from.
- Pick a look - a starting layout and a color and type theme, shown as a live preview that matches what publishing actually produces. Change either later from the Site Editor.
- Your site is live - publishes a real site under your account. If Hosting isn't active yet, you can subscribe here, or keep going with a preview and publish for real whenever you're ready.
- Your team - starts a company on your new site: a handful of departments, each working in "propose" mode, meaning it does the work and then asks before anything goes live. Review its first suggestions from the Company app.
- Connect (all optional) - Google or Microsoft for mail and calendar, a phone number to forward your site's calls to, and Square for real checkout links. Skip any of these and add them later.
- Done - your live address, when your first daily briefing arrives, one-click links straight into Business, the Site Editor, and where to pick which AI provider runs your departments, and a short checklist of what's left. That checklist follows you into the Today app, so you can check things off without reopening Setup.
Picking it back up
Close Setup partway through and it remembers exactly where you left off - your answers, what you've already published, everything. If a connection step sends you off to sign in somewhere else (Google, for example), coming back to Setup - from Settings > General - continues right where you were.
Signing in on a different device, or a browser that's been cleared, works the same way: Setup checks what your account already has and skips straight past any step it's already done for real, instead of asking you to start over. If the address you pick for your site turns out to already be yours, Setup notices and keeps going instead of stopping you.
Starting over
Once you've finished Setup, "Run setup again" in Settings > General starts fresh from the first question. If you never finished, that same button resumes instead of discarding your progress.
