Edit your site by clicking on it

Once a site is hosted with NextOS (see "Host a website"), you don't need to ask the assistant for every small fix. Open Site Editor and change things yourself, directly on the page.

How it works

1. Pick a site and a page. Site Editor lists every site your account owns and every page in it.
2. Hover to see what's editable. Text, images and links get a highlight outline when your mouse is over them.
3. Click to edit.
   • Text becomes editable right where it is - type your change, then press Enter or click elsewhere to save it. Press Escape to back out without saving.
   • Images open a small picker: upload a new photo from your computer, or reuse one already on the site.
   • Links open a small box where you can change where they go.
4. Check both sizes. The desktop/phone toggle in the toolbar switches the preview's width so you can check a change looks right on both before publishing.
5. Publish when ready. Every edit is saved to the site's files as you make it - Publish makes the current version live, exactly like the Publish button in Settings › Sites.

Changes since your last publish

A panel on the side lists every file that's different from what's currently live - added, changed or removed - with the exact text changes for anything you can read (HTML, styles). Nothing goes live until you click Publish.

Undo and redo

Every edit can be undone, and an undone edit can be redone, for as long as you keep the page open.

Something trickier

For anything beyond a quick fix - a new section, a different layout, a form - use "Ask the assistant" in the toolbar. It opens the assistant already pointed at the page you're looking at.

Requirements

Site Editor works on any site published with the Hosting add-on. There's nothing extra to turn on.
