The growth loop

Updated Sep 15, 2026

If you've attached a company to a hosted site (see the Company guide), every department can work toward the same north star: one number that matters most for this business - leads, bookings, orders, newsletter signups, or a custom goal you track on the site. Instead of each department picking its own idea of success, they all start from the same question: what's the fastest way to close the gap to target?

Setting the north star

Pick a metric and a target (a value per week or per month) from the growth card on your site in Settings › Sites, or ask an autonomous department to set it for you. The card shows the current value against the target, which way it's trending, and a weekly trend line once a few weeks of history build up.

The experiment ledger

Whenever a department makes a change aimed at moving the number - a new headline, a different call to action, an A/B test - it logs a short hypothesis and what it's about to change before acting. A week later, that change is automatically graded:

  • Kept - the metric held up (or an A/B test's winner was the new idea).
  • Reverted - the metric dropped enough to matter, so the change (or the losing side of a test) was automatically rolled back.
  • Inconclusive - not enough traffic yet to tell either way.

Every logged change and its verdict shows up in the growth card's ledger, with the evidence behind the call, so you can see exactly what was tried and what happened.

The weekly budget

Departments can only run so many experiments and spend so much per week - a small budget that resets every week, shown on the growth card alongside how much is left. This keeps a department from trying ten things at once when one well-chosen change, tried and measured, teaches you more.

The weekly review

Every Monday, the growth loop grades whatever changes are due, snapshots the number for the trend line, and writes a short review of what moved the number and what didn't - sent to you as a notification, with next week's plan.
